Privacy

This page describes, in plain language, exactly what Statementji does with your data. It's factual, not legal boilerplate — if you have a question this page doesn't answer, reach out and we'll answer it directly.

What we collect

  • Your phone number, used only to sign you in (we send a one-time code, no passwords).
  • The transactions extracted from a bank statement PDF you upload — date, narration, amount, and the category you (or our automatic rules) assign to it.

What we never store

  • Your original PDF. It's decrypted in memory (if it's password-protected), read once to extract the transaction list, and then discarded — the file itself never touches long-term storage.
  • Your PDF password. It's used only at the moment of upload to open the file, then discarded along with it. We never see it again, and we never ask for it outside the upload flow.

How deletion works

  • You can permanently delete your account and everything in it — every statement, transaction, and merchant tag — at any time, directly from the app's Settings screen. No support ticket, no waiting period.
  • Deletion is immediate and irreversible. If you sign in again afterward, it creates a brand-new account, not a restoration of the old one.

Security

  • Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.
  • A shared, anonymized merchant registry (e.g. "Swiggy," "Uber") powers auto-categorization across users, but it never includes your personal category tags or any data that identifies you.
